Labour migration and the Open Tech Hub

On the approach to labour migration, Carla supported GroenLinks’s proposal to raise awareness, which the executive rejected. She named bogus self-employment and the power of some employment agencies, and said the city did find creative ways to reach everyone during COVID. On the Amsterdam Open Tech and Innovation Hub she asked for public values, human rights and broad prosperity to come first, for a human rights scan of municipal investments, and for retraining of people whose jobs are displaced by technology to be made visible at the same time (in Dutch).

Bulky waste, wind turbines and her Congo motion

Carla asked for the follow-up on her Congo motion to be discussed in committee, so everyone could contribute. On the bulky waste plan she supported the move to a circular economy, but worried about people who cannot take their things away themselves: sick people, parents with young children and people with little money. She proposed keeping the collection service by appointment free until the new facilities are in place. On wind turbines she asked a speaker about researchers willing to study the health risks independently, and called on the alderman to involve the residents of Zuidoost and put their health first (in Dutch).
