OBA Next in the K-buurt
The new library OBA Next is coming to Kraaiennest in Zuidoost. Carla had long supported that location and backed the residents and young people who campaigned for it. “When I started in this building in 2022, I fought for OBA Next in Zuidoost,” she said in 2026.

Debate
Before her council term, at the presentation of OBA Koers 2030, Carla debated as the BIJ1 candidate with, among others, Alderman Marjolein Moorman (PvdA). Her point: put OBA Next in Zuidoost, not on the Zuidas. Moorman was not yet convinced: “Frankly, I am a little disappointed in BIJ1.” Carla held her ground and told how she learned to read in the library herself: “Now is the time, we are ready for it in Zuidoost.” Two years later Moorman said: “You were early with this view.”
Committee
Carla asked whether an extra hall could be added to the Bijlmer Parktheater, separately from OBA Next.

She welcomed the district committee’s choice of Kraaiennest and asked how the K-buurt would stay involved.

She praised residents and organisations in Zuidoost for speaking out at the district committee. In the same meeting, Alderman Moorman thanked Carla for her efforts for OBA Next in Zuidoost.
