Repair and remembrance

Route to Repair

Zwart Manifest’s Route to Repair report describes how Amsterdam can move forward after its apology for the slavery past. Carla pressed for the executive’s response, asked about ownership by descendants and a building for the Black community, and co-sponsored an amendment.

What Carla did

  1. Put on the agenda

At Carla’s request, the committee discussed the letter from the National Slavery Monument foundation. She asked when the response to Route to Repair would come.

  4. Council

In the council she called it “very much a Kabamba subject”: it shows what the first steps towards justice look like.
