Point students to housing registration from day one
New students get a reminder when enrolling in their programme to register for housing in time.
✓ Adopted
Why this motion
Many students don’t know they need to register early with platforms such as WoningNet, Room.nl and Lieven de Key. They miss out on waiting time, which is a major problem in Amsterdam.
The city already informs students through introduction weeks and social media, but doesn’t reach every group. Information at the moment of enrolment is low-threshold and effective.
What the council asks
The city council asks the mayor and aldermen to:
- 1Work with educational institutions to add a notice or reminder at enrolment about registering early with WoningNet, Room.nl and Lieven de Key.
- 2Also share this through study apps, email, leaflets and social media channels that reach new students.
